hello everyone
I am very glad that this is the final post which i have to do. First of all, i would like to wish everyone all the best for the final exams. We should cheer ourselves up as holiday is coming.
Since this is the last blog, i would like to share some opinions about blogging with you. First, i would like to stress some benefits of blogging. I feel that we can understand ourselves much better through blogging. For example, our previous blog is about oral presentation 2. When we were writing the blog about this topic, we had to reflect our minds. This is a good practise in the sense that we can improve from the mistake we made in the past. If we do not write blog about the oral presentation, most of us i believe would not reflect at all. Hence, we will keep on making the same mistakes next time. Therefore, writing blogs will give us a better understanding of ourselves.
Next, i would like to stress some disadvatages of writing blogs. Writing blogs are time consuming. Before writing the blogs, we need to think the contents of our blogs. Besides writing our own blogs, we still need to comment on other's blogs. In my opinion, i think teachers can ask their students to write their own blogs and comment other blogs during lesson time verbally. As when we comment on other's blogs, we do not need much thinking, compared with doing our own blogs. It is because that human being always like to consern things about themselves rather than others. Hence, i feel that if the teacher can select some interesting blogs to discuss in the lesson, it will be great. Above is just a suggestion i made. I hope that my suggustion helps.
In the end, i enjoy to take this module.

Reflection on Oral Presentation 2
From the overall view of my Oral Presentation 2, i would not sure whether i did a fantastic job. However, what i am sure is that i have learnt a lot of oral presentation skills from this course.
First skill i have learnt is to make gestures during presentation. The advantage of this skill is to ensure that your presentation progresses at a good sequence. From scientific evidence, hand gestures are able to help your brain to sort the ideas in your mind into an order. As a result, you are more confident when you are talking during the presentation. However.the mistake i made during the oral presentation 2 is that i have too many gestures. Mr James brought this point to my attention. The problem of having too many hand gestures during the presentation is that it will be very irritaing to the audients. Hence, i will take note of this issue and make gestures only when they are necessary during my presentations in future.
Secondly, presentation slides should be short, precise and point form. The idea of showing slides on the screen is to give audients some points to think about during your presentation. if the audients have any disagreements with your ponits on the screen, they will pay more attention to your explaination. Hence we should not write full sentenses on the slides. Otherwise, the audients will not intrested at your explaination as they prefer to read on their own. The mistake i made during this presentation is that we wrote full sentenses for part of our slides. Hence, during the presentation, i found that the idea is very simple and clearly shown on the screen and i have nothing to explain my points. For the next presentation, i will make sure my slides are short and precise enough.
In conclusion, i hope i can perform a better presentation next time.

reflection on meeting 1
Group meeting for project 1102 is very important to me. Besides learning a lot of fundamental things about C++, i found that it is really important to standardise everything in the first. For example, in our group, we did not standardise the detail about how we should write our report during our first meeting. In the end, four of us gave different versions of reports. Hence, during our second meeting, we felt that it is very hard for us to compile all of our reports into the final version. Extra time would be spent to adjust our own reports. In my opinion, this is sort of wasting time. If we are able to standardise the way to write our report in the first place, I believe that our group will be more efficient in term of doing the project.
Next, i would like to summarise some ways to improve the quality of our group meeting.
1. In the beginning, we need to state clearly what we need to do during that meeting. This is because that we can ensure our group meeting is fruitful.
2. During the discussion, we need to give every group member certain amount of time to expression their views. This is to ensure everyone in the group is on the right track and noone is left out.
3. Before the end of the meeting, we need to standardise every piece of work which we are supposed to do at home. Hence, we would not waste any time correcting any misconception during the next meeting.
In conclusion, group project is very useful for learning knowledge and group meeting is the key part of the group project. Hence, it is very important for us to take every group meeting seriously.

Resolving Interpersonal conflict
In my opinion, conflict between people is very common. There are conflicts at school, at market and on the street. Basically, conflict is just a form of expressing people's anger. Although anger between people is inevitable, we cannot turn this anger into conflict. The reason is very simply. The consequence of a conflict is unpredictable. Many criminals become murderers is because they cannot control their anger and emotion properly at the time when they commit the crime. Furthermore, 90% of murderers regret after that. Hence, how can we resolve interpersonal conflict is very important to us.
In scientific study, people with high EQ are able to control their anger much better than people with low EQ. EQ is just a skill which can be trained. Hence, in my opinion, in order to resolving interpersonal conflict, we have to improve our EQ. Below i will show you some ways to improve our EQ.
1. If you are very angry about someone who is standing right in front your and you can feel that there will be a fight between you and him soon, the best way to resolve this is that you quickly find a place where noone there. You take out a pen and a piece of paper and write down all the words that you want to "tell "him. You will find that you will become less angry about him.
2. You can try to find out the good aspects of someone who you hate the most. Then you can tell youself that he is also not taht bad.

Intercultural Communication
What is intercultural communication?
Intercultural communication means to understand how people from different cultures, countries and backgrounds interact. It determines whether people from different cultural backgrounds can live together peacefully. In this sense, well intercultural communication is very important in multi-racial countries like Singapore. For example, when people from India, Malaysia and China immigrated to Singapore, there would be lack of understanding among each other. As a result, people would feel that they did not belong to Singapore.
Government
Furthermore, in order to achieve in intercultural communication, the government plays an important role. The most important role that the government plays is treating its people fairly, regardless of races. Many examples prove that unfair policy from the government causes social conflicts like Sri Lanka. In my opinion, the government should provide its people with a lot of opportunities to practice intercultural communication.Hence, well intercultural communication is based on the fair treatment.
Economy
Last but not least, I would like to talk about the relationship between intercultural understanding and economy. Having strong economy is closely related to the racial harmony and racial harmony is based on the intercultural understanding. For example, if fights between Chinese and Malaysian always take place in Singapore, investments will certainly drop and many other chain effects like decreasing in GDP or living standard will appear. Hence, having peaceful society is the first point to ensure the stable economy of a society.
In conclusion, NUS is a global university and there are a lot of foreign students from all over the world just like the video above. Being NUS students, we have to learn intercultural communcation skill. This communication skill is essential when we graduate and start to work as Singapore is a multi-racial society.

communication and team work
what is communication and team work?
Basically, communication and team work are simply means that a group of people works together for a project. The interaction among people is called communication. This is a very important skill. In a project, we need to explain our ideas well and make sure our groupmates can fully understand; otherwise, all the effort we put in for the project will be useless and there will be no team work due to the poor communication. Hence, team work is built base on good communication. Singapore government knows the importance of this communication skill. Hence, it starts to train its people since they are in secondary school. For example, in secondary school, we have some kinds of group work. Althought this group work is very easy, it gives students an idea of what the group work looks like.
why communication and team work are so important nowadays?
Firstly, the type of work we are facing now. In the past, our projects are pretty simple. One man should be able to finish the project. However, nowadays, most of our projects are giant. They are impossible to be finished by just one or two men. For example, computer games. In the past, the computer games were created by just about 100 lines of coding, whereas now, one game is about millions and millions of coding. Hence, teamwork and good communication are very important for us to suit ourselves into this new working environment.
secondly, the advance in technology makes our communication easily. In the past, without the help of the internet, we have to arrange time and location for a group meeting. It is so troublesome that people prefer to work alone. However, nowadays people can exchange their ideas easily via msn or something else. As a result, teamwork is more preferable.
From the video above, it shows that team work is able to change impossible thing to possible.

The most important thing i learnt in the last toturial is the 7Cs. In the past, i just write whatever the words come out from my mind and never take note of the 7Cs. i will try to keep these 7Cs at back of my mind when i am writing next time.
